The Job
What Sealcoating Actually Does
A driveway is a slab of asphalt or concrete sitting in full sun and full rain for years. UV breaks down the surface, water gets into the pores and the hairline cracks, and every wet-dry cycle opens them a little wider. Sealcoating puts a protective layer over the top so the sun works on the sealer instead of your driveway and the water runs off instead of soaking in.
It is maintenance, not a makeover. Done every few years, it's the cheapest thing you can do to push a driveway replacement further down the road.

Sealcoat or a Full Driveway Coating?
Sealcoating protects the driveway you have. A flake driveway coating replaces the look of it: ground, coated, flaked, and topcoated with the same polyaspartic system Gary uses on garage floors, so the driveway matches the garage. It costs more and it's a different job. If your driveway is sound and you want it to last, sealcoat. When can we walk and drive on it?
Walkable in about four hours. Gary tells you exactly when to bring the cars back before he leaves; plan on keeping them off until then.
Will it fix the cracks?
It treats the small ones and stops them growing. Wide cracks, settling, and trip hazards are a concrete repair job first, then sealcoat.
What if it rains?
Sealer needs dry hours to cure. Gary schedules around the forecast and reschedules if a summer storm moves in. Better a day late than a washed-out coat.
