The Usual Order
Repair First, Then Coat
Most of Gary's repair work happens as step one of a coating job. Every epoxy garage floor, polyaspartic floor, and pool deck he installs includes crack repair and pitting fill before the base coat, because a coating over an unrepaired crack just shows you where the crack is. Standalone repair, with no coating after, is also a job he takes: a driveway that needs to stop being a trip hazard, a patio that holds water in one corner.

Straight Answer
When It's Not a Repair Job
Leveling fixes a surface. It doesn't fix ground that's still moving under it. If a slab has sunk because the soil under it washed out, or a crack keeps reopening after it's filled, Gary tells you that at the visit and points you at the right kind of contractor instead of selling you a patch that won't hold. That honesty is the reason the repairs he does do last.

Will the repair show?
On bare concrete, a filled crack is a visible line in a slightly different grey. Under a flake coating, it disappears. That's one reason repair and coating usually go together.
My patio holds water in one corner. Can that be fixed?
Usually, with grinding and leveling compound to restore the fall so water drains. Gary checks it with a level at the quote.
Is this the same as foam or slab jacking?
No. This is surface repair and leveling on the slab itself. If the slab has sunk because of the ground underneath, Gary says so and tells you what kind of contractor to call.
How long does it take?
Half a day to a full day for most repairs. If a coating follows, the repair is folded into that schedule.
Can you coat over a crack I filled myself?
Only if it's sound. Hardware-store fillers usually come out and get redone with a patch that bonds, or the coating fails at exactly that line.
